In the main event of tonight’s debut edition of AEW Collision live in Chicago, CM Punk and FTR joined forces in a big main event.
In a hard hitting main event, CMFTR took on the team of Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold (Jay White and Juice Robinson) to close the debut episode of the new AEW offering.
With the Chicago crowd buzzing to see CM Punk and FTR tag teaming together, there were several enjoyable moments from the match but perhaps most exciting, when a bit of ROH history re-emerged.
The first time that CM Punk and Samoa Joe got in the ring together, there were mighty chops as the pair faced off for the first time in over a decade.
In the final third, fans saw another big showdown between CM Punk and Samoa Joe before complete pandemonium broke out.
With CM Punk and Samoa Joe still legal and the other four brawling at ringside, Joe had Punk in the coquina clutch for a prolonged period of time before Harwood was able to break it up.
After another melee and Juice Robinson in, FTR was then able to hit the Big Rig on Juice into a GTS from CM Punk to capture the pinfall victory for his team.
With CM Punk and FTR standing tall to end the show, it seems perhaps 2023 could really see the Summer of CMFTR.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, there was a big title change in the first ever match on AEW Collision and a hard hitting affair between Buddy Matthews and the returning Andrade el Idolo.
