When Asuka Found Out She Was Winning WWE Raw Women’s Championship

Last night on Monday Night Raw, Becky Lynch vacated the Raw Women’s Championship to Asuka after announcing that she is pregnant and will subsequently be off of WWE TV for the foreseeable future.

Asuka, despite being a heel, hugged Becky in the middle of the ring when the Irishwoman announced that she and Seth were expecting their first child. It has now emerged that this reaction was completely genuine.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson is reporting that when she won Money in the Bank (match was taped on April 15), Asuka had no idea that she had just technically won the Raw Women’s Championship.

Johnson goes on to explain that Asuka actually only found out that Lynch was pregnant and that she would be winning the Raw Women’s Title when she arrived at the PC for Raw yesterday:

“We were told that when WWE filmed the Money In The Bank ladder match in Stamford that Asuka was not aware she was winning the RAW Women’s Championship. She was not aware that was happening until yesterday when she got to the taping. So her reaction while she knew what was going to happen in the segment was legitimately shocked and excitement we were told.”

Speaking of Asuka, the ‘Empress of Tomorrow’ became the first female in WWE to hold the Raw, SmackDown, NXT and Women’s Tag Team Championships, as well as picking up victories in both the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank matches.
