The professional wrestling world suffered a loss this week with the tragic passing of former Tough Enough winner, Matt Cappotelli. The gladiator lost his battle with brain cancer at just 38 years old. Now, Ringside News is reporting that his short legacy could be immortalized forever because WWE is considering him for the Warrior Award at the 2019 Hall of Fame ceremony.
Whatever your opinion of said award – and many people have many different views both good and bad – it would be refreshing to see it bestowed onto someone who has actually been in the industry, and Matt’s inclusion would also help to raise awareness of the disease.
Though nothing has been set in concrete, it would be a wonderful way to remember the star who never got the chance to make his mark; forced to retire from active-competition thanks to a brain tumor. Your writer can’t see anyone objecting to this inclusion. It would be welcomed by the entire wrestling community.
WrestleTalk will keep you informed as discussions are ongoing.
