One of the more bizarre matches at Clash of Champions was the Raw Tag Team Championship match. As the Street Profits and Andrade and Angel Garza have wrestled so many times since WrestleMania, many assumed this would be the time for a title change.
However, things went awry. Garza was hurt during the match and things completely fell apart at the finish. As of this writing, WWE has sent Garza to get an MRI with early talks saying it may be a hip injury or a quad tear. In the match, Andrade was quickly pinned with a spinebuster from Angelo Dawkins despite clearly kicking out before three.
Now, we know what the original plan for the match was. Dave Meltzer is currently reporting that even before the injury, no title change was planned. While this may not have been the intended finish, the Street Profits were still meant to walk out of Clash of Champions with their titles.
We will have to wait to hear about Garza’s condition to know what the future holds for the team. At the moment, WWE can really not afford to lose a team to injury. Especially on Raw, the number of tag teams is at an all-time low.
