Here’s why All Elite Wrestling commentator Jim Ross missed the taping for the December 30 edition of AEW Rampage.
Despite AEW taping the upcoming show after the December 28 edition of Dynamite, not all personnel were on hand for the show.
Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tony Khan just let Ross have the week off.
Noting that Ross is expected to be back for the following episode, Meltzer wrote:
“Jim Ross was not on the taped Rampage show this week, as the broadcast team was Excalibur, Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight. It’s not anything significant.
“Tony Khan gave Ross the week off so he could attend the Cheez-It Bowl in Orlando with his favorite University of Oklahoma vs. Florida State. He’ll be back for the show in Portland this coming week.”
Two title bouts have been announced for the show, with Orange Cassidy set to defend the All-Atlantic Title against Trent Beretta, and Kiera Hogan to challenge for Jade Cargill’s TBS Championship.
