Kevin Owens announced yesterday that he’ll be taking time away from WWE, and now we have a little bit more information as to why.
The announcement came off the back of Owens’ loss to Sami Zayn at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Sunday.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer simply said:
“He’s taking time off, but I was told it’s storyline-related. So there you go.”

That would seem to imply that there’s no external reason for Owens’ absence instead of just a break from storyline, similar to reports about Bray Wyatt being off TV for the last couple of months.
For those who didn’t see it, Owens had originally tweeted:
I fought like hell. Now, I need a little break. I’ll be back soon. Thank you, guys.
Kevin Owens started this year in a Universal Champion program with Roman Reigns, but since that ended in January, he’s been embroiled with Zayn including matches at WrestleMania and Hell in a Cell.
