Why WWE Is Revealing Royal Rumble Surprises Revealed

WWE made a couple of decisions regarding the Royal Rumble last night. Decisions that made some fans very upset. They not only announced Edge’s Rumble return on Raw, but also announced that they would reveal the number 30 entrant in the men’s Rumble and the number one and two entrants in the women’s Rumble on WWE Backstage.

As the Royal Rumble is all about surprises, some fans were peeved that WWE was spoiling their own surprises. Now, Fightful Select (subscription required) has reported the reasons why WWE made these announcements.

Regarding Edge’s return, they reported that WWE is looking to create additional buzz for the match. They particularly want to attract lapsed fans who are familiar with Edge. It was also noted that if there were live fans in attendance this likely wouldn’t have happened.

Additionally, the decision to announce the specific Royal Rumble entries was made to pop a rating on Fox. Both WWE and Fox want to do a good number and so this decision was made.

It remains to be seen who those entrants will be revealed to be as we will have to wait for WWE Backstage to find out.
