Why WWE Put Roman Reigns With Paul Heyman Revealed

There’s some more news on why WWE had Roman Reigns unveil Paul Heyman as his new manager on the latest episode of SmackDown.

Heyman had been absent from WWE TV since WrestleMania as Brock Lesnar has been stuck in Canada, and he was also removed from his backstage role as executive director of Raw.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said WWE felt it had to do something with Heyman as he has a lucrative contract and hadn’t been doing anything lately. He explained:

“His performer’s contract, he wasn’t doing anything at all ever since Lesnar left and that’s been months now and he’s making a lot of money so I think that you want to justify that by having him work and being with Reigns, he’s being paid like a top guy so he should be in a top program and it’s not gonna get any bigger than Reigns. Reigns is going to be the biggest heel in the promotion.”

It’s been reported that Roman Reigns is expected to win the Universal Title tonight at Payback and go on to be positioned as the top heel on the SmackDown roster.

However, it’s also been noted that WWE realises this is actually probably going to get a positive reaction when fans come back, and the eventual plan is still for Reigns to become a John Cena like ultra babyface.
