Yesterday at NJPW Sakura Genesis, Will Ospreay defeated Kota Ibushi to become the second-ever IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
Following the bout, Will Ospreay challenged former WWE Champion CM Punk to a match during the post-show press conference:
”Before I was the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, a man who sparked a whole industry of getting the wrestling world interested in, named CM Punk, was interested in facing Will Ospreay. Well now I have the biggest prize in pro wrestling, so if you really are wanting to prove to yourself that you’re the best in the world, come over to here [pointing at the title] and come and take this.”
For those that don’t know, CM Punk said in an interview last year that he’d be interested in returning to wrestling for a match with Will Ospreay, which you can read more about by clicking here.
