Will Ospreay has “high hopes” for a debuting AEW star.
Nick Wayne signed a provisional AEW deal in February 2022. At the time, it was reported that the deal wouldn’t require any commitment from Wayne until he turned 18, while Wayne was still in school.
On the April 8 Defy Wrestling independent show, Wayne defeated Swerve Strickland for the Defy Wrestling Championship.
After the bout, Strickland challenged the 17-year old star to a rematch for the title on the July 12 edition of AEW Dynamite, which is the first episode after Wayne’s 18th birthday and will be his debut.
Speaking with Dark Puroresu Flowsion, NJPW star Will Ospreay shared his perspective on Nick Wayne. He said:
“I have high hopes for him. My 1 piece of advice would be. Don’t be scared to evolve & to his critics. Allow him to be a young man in wrestling, let him grow, find himself. I have a eye for these guys & Im hardly wrong about this.”
Ospreay previously faced Wayne in GCW last year after the 17-year old challenged the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
