Women’s Match For WWE Super ShowDown Blocked By Saudi Government

It was reported recently that WWE was still waiting for approval from the Saudi Arabian Sports Authority for Natalya and Alexa Bliss to face off at WWE Super ShowDown in what would be the first women’s wrestling match in the country.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported earlier today that as of this morning, WWE still had not been granted permission for the two former Smackdown Women’s Champions to fight on the show, but were still trying to make it happen.

However, the Wrestling Observer is now reporting that the plans have been scrapped and the match between the two women will not be taking place at today’s show.

WWE were not granted permission from the Saudi Arabian government this morning after both women flew to the country in recent days. The report suggested that the Saudi authorities changed their minds once WWE arrived.

However, the report does suggest WWE are hopeful of having a women’s match in the country at their next event in November. They also hope the can use both Alexa Bliss and Natalya at Super ShowDown to announce the upcoming match.
