Might wanna give the Extreme Rules main event a miss this year, because it’s being reported that Seth Rollins next Universal Championship challenger is going to be none other than Baron Corbin.
Corbin is currently scheduled to take part in the Money in the Bank ladder match this weekend, but if these reports are true, we can assume he isn’t going to be taking home the briefcase for the second time in three years.
Instead, according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Corbin is being slowly built up as a genuine challenger for Seth Rollins, something perhaps indicated by his win over Ricochet on this week’s Raw.
Corbin has been a consistent member of the Raw midcard seemingly for the past 300 years now, and despite constant fan apathy, WWE seems to be very high on the lone wolf (which is a pretty badly suited name these days).
The Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, the arena hosting Extreme Rules on July 14, is currently advertising Corbin in a match with Seth Rollins for the show. According to the advert, it’s going to be a tables match.
It seems amazing that Corbin is the best thing Vince and his writers can come up with given the stacked roster on Raw, but why should we be surprised?
