The main event has been set for Wrestle Kingdom 14. Kazuchika Okada will defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against G1 Climax winner Kota Ibushi in the Tokyo Dome.
Kazuchika Okada defeated SANADA to retain the championship at King of Pro Wrestling. He avenged his loss from the G1 Climax and brought his record against SANADA to 7-1-0. This will likely be Okada’s final title defence before competing in the Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2020.
Kota Ibushi retained his IWGP Heavyweight Championship Right To Challenge Contract by defeating EVIL. Ibushi has now defeated both of the men who bested him in the G1 Climax. He defeated KENTA at Destruction in Kagoshima and now he has defeated EVIL as well.
Ibushi defeated Okada to win the A Block of the G1 Climax before defeating Jay White to win the tournament. There are still just under three months until Wrestle Kingdom 14 but the card looks like it is beginning to take shape. It is unknown what the main event of the second night of the Tokyo Dome will be but with all the talk of people wanting to become double champions it is possible that plays a role.
