News has broken on Twitter via @WrestleVotes (usually a very reliable source) that a press conference will be taking place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey announcing that WrestleMania will be returning ‘home’ to New York/New Jersey for the 35th edition of the ‘Show of Shows’.

It is usually around this time that WWE announces where the following year’s edition of WrestleMania will be taking place. Other locations being rumoured are Philadelphia and Detroit, however NYC seems more likely. @WrestleVotes tweet was backed up and supported by another user, @TheGiantsWire, a New York Giants blog site which works closely with the team and stadium.

So it looks like WWE will indeed be back ‘home’. The last time WWE used the MetLife Stadium was in 2013 for WrestleMania 29, a show which saw The Rock defend his WWE Championship against John Cena in a rematch from the previous year. The same card saw CM Punk’s last WrestleMania appearance as he fought the Undertaker, which just so happened to be the last victory in The Streak before it was ended by Brock Lesnar the following year.
WrestleMania 29 was very successful for both WWE and New York/New Jersey and brought in $101.2 million to the area, so it is no wonder that they would want WWE to bring their headline show back so soon.
