Amid plenty of speculation as to what the match order will be for WrestleMania 39, now it has been revealed what match will go on first.
Tonight’s SmackDown (March 24) shared who would kick off WrestleMania weekend as the opening match was revealed.
On commentary, Michael Cole announced that John Cena versus Austin Theory would be the first match of WrestleMania weekend, kicking off the night on WrestleMania Saturday.
With WrestleMania 39 set to take place over two nights in Los Angeles, California on April 1 and April 2, 2023, there is still a lot left to be announced regarding the event.
Roman Reigns versus Cody Rhodes will of course take the ‘main event’ slot, going on last in the entire event on WrestleMania Sunday, with the rumored WrestleMania Saturday main event being Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley, although that’s not confirmed and the other option is the Usos vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.
Currently it is unknown the match order and even though on television Reigns and Rhodes have referenced the date, “April 2” (Sunday) even the Universal Championship match graphics still don’t specify a day at this time.
