Some Backstage Want Big Change To WWE Championship Match At WrestleMania 41

Some Backstage Want Big Change To WWE Championship Match At WrestleMania 41 WWE

An update has emerged on plans for a major WrestleMania 41 match, ahead of the upcoming Elimination Chamber PLE.

As was expected, Royal Rumble gave us many indications about plans for certain stars at WrestleMania 41, including Roman Reigns and CM Punk, both of whom Seth Rollins attacked following their eliminations from the 30-man match.

While it had previously been reported that Roman Reigns vs CM Punk had been ‘heavily discussed’ for WrestleMania, reports emerged following Royal Rumble indicating that Reigns vs Punk vs Rollins is the plan for the April 19-20 show.

With reports also indicating that a Cody Rhodes vs John Cena WWE Championship match is slated for WrestleMania, some fans have pitched for CM Punk to instead join this match, finally giving him his long sought-after WrestleMania main event.

WrestleVotes has now weighed in, noting that there are people within WWE that would rather see the latter match, instead of Reigns vs Rollins vs Punk.

WrestleVotes noted the following during Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A:

“I don’t know if it’s been discussed in an official capacity, but I do know there are people there that would rather that match (Rhodes vs. Cena vs. Punk) than Reigns vs. Punk vs. Rollins if that matters at all.

“I don’t know, but I do know that there are some people who would prefer that.”

John Cena and CM Punk will both compete in the Elimination Chamber match on March 1, with the winner to challenge for Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.
