WrestleMania Main Event Three-Way Scrapped?

WrestleMania Main Event Three-Way Scrapped?

There are conflicting reports about what the headline match at this year’s WrestleMania 35 will be. That it will involve Becky Lynch is not in question – nobody else could possibly main event the show this year – but exactly what configuration her match at the ‘Mania will take is unclear.

Recent reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer stated that despite how well received the showdown between Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch on Raw this week was, the plans for the WrestleMania main event were still for the match to be a three-way involving Charlotte Flair.

However, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated claims otherwise. He says sources within WWE have told him that the WrestleMania bout will be a one-on-one contest between Rousey and Lynch, with Flair given a different, as yet unspecified role on the show.

One thing we do know for sure is that the Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair rivalry is far from over. Lynch threw Flair out of the Royal Rumble to win the match then the two had a confrontation on SmackDown which was clearly setting up a future meeting between them.

Local advertising has already seemingly given away a Charlotte v Becky match at Fastlane, which is widely expected to be used as a way to get Charlotte into the WrestleMania bout.

With WWE nothing is certain until it happens, as several advertised matches getting changed at the last minute have proven in recent months. They may have made their decision already or they might bide their time to see how things play out in the run up to WrestleMania.
