The general rule for naming an NXT TakeOver event is just to put a colon and then the city the arena is in, and then a number if it’s been there more than once.
We have seen a few exceptions to this rule particularly in the early days, with the most recent example being NXT TakeOver: Wargames 1 & 2.
The TakeOver show on WrestleMania weekend is in Brooklyn, so many simply assumed it would be Brooklyn 5, but ticket websites are now giving us a few alternative names.
A few months ago, it was announced that they were dropping Brooklyn in favour of TakeOver: New York, but there has since been another alteration. The official NXT ticket website is now listing both NXT TakeOver: Blacklist and NXT TakeOver Blacklist: Brooklyn as possible names for the show.
Here is the current placeholder image they have on the NXT ticket website:
Why they’re going for Blacklist is not clear, but it’s a cool sounding word so I’m putting it down to Triple H.
It must be noted that the Barclays Centre where the show is being held still has it as TakeOver: New York, but we are led to believe the name will now incorporate Blacklist in some way.
Maybe it’s just because Aleister Black is going to be there?
