At the G1 SuperCard show over WrestleMania weekend in April 2019 at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York, Matt Taven defeated both Marty Scurll and Jay Lethal in a great three-way ladder match to capture the Ring of Honor World Championship.
For context, the show also featured the likes of Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jeff Cobb and WWE Hall of Famer Bubba Ray Dudley (now Bully Ray).
Just over a year removed from his big title win, Matt Taven sat down via Skype with website editor Louis Dangoor. The pair spoke about Matt’s title win, how Matt’s role as a trainer has been adapted due to Coronavirus, watching Tiger King and walking their dogs.
