WrestleTalk Roundtable: Who’s Better as WWE IC Champ: The Miz or Seth Rollins?

Welcome to the first WrestleTalk Roundtable! In the opening edition of a (hopefully) recurring series here at WrestleTalk, a group of contributors have come together to discuss who represents the WWE Intercontinental Championship better: The Miz or Seth Rollins? This is a loaded question, with no definitive answer, so let’s get right into the discussion.

Brian Joyce

Seth Rollins without a shadow of a doubt has been the superior Intercontinental Champion since he won the title at WrestleMania 34. While The Miz has talked about bringing the Intercontinental championship back to its former glory since 2012, Seth Rollins looks like he may have a chance of actually doing it. Seth Rollins is one of the best wrestlers in the world and since his Iron Man performance in the Raw gauntlet match earlier this year he has been by far the best performer on Raw and perhaps the entire WWE. He took part in a great opening match at WrestleMania 34, he managed to have the only good match on an otherwise atrocious Backlash, and he finally has the entire audience behind him. I find myself genuinely excited to see Seth Rollins’ matches every week whereas I have not been excited for one of The Miz’s matches since his match with Daniel Bryan in 2010. Seth Rollins is finally shedding the weight of his historically bad babyface turn and has turned himself into not only the best performer on Raw but the undeniable top babyface of the brand. All of this has been done while carrying the Intercontinental Championship to its best run in years. If he continues his current strides the Intercontinental Championship may be able to finally return to the place of honor it had when Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect battled over it nearly three decades ago.
