An update has been provided on former AEW World Tag Team Champion Sting’s son Steven Borden’s training for in-ring debut.
At AEW Revolution 2024, Sting’s sons Garrett and Steven Borden escorted their father to the ring for the final match of his legendary career.
After helping their father get the win alongside Darby Allin over The Young Bucks to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships in Sting’s last pro wrestling match, Steven Borden announced that he is training to become a wrestler.
Speaking to the Down Under The Ring podcast, Darby Allin provided an update noting that he does not want to rush Borden into the ring. He said:
“See the thing is, Steven, his son, is actually training a lot.”
“It all depends, those are big shoes to follow, you know? Time is of the essence with that one, you don’t want to rush anybody because if you rush somebody in there [people will say], ‘Oh, that was a favor for Sting.’”
“Once Steven steps foot in the ring for the first time, we all want to be like, ‘Okay, he worked for this, he deserves this.’”
Borden has also trained with All Elite Wrestling stars Adam Copeland and FTR.
Darby Allin is set to face Claudio Castagnoli of The Death Riders on the November 20 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Allin recently named an AEW spot where he “flew a little too close to the sun” with, which you can read here.
