Wrestling MediaCon have announced that Colt Cabana will be the second member of their Hall of Fame.
The convention, set to be the largest in UK history, announced on Twitter that Cabana will be honored during the September 8-9 convention, at which he is scheduled to make an appearance. The announcement mentioned the in-ring career of “Boom Boom”, but focused on his revolutionary career outside of WWE.
The 2nd inductee in our #WrestlingMediaCon Hall Of Fame is a pioneer not just of podcasting but arguably of the model of a professional wrestler THRIVING on their own terms outside of WWE. He changed wrestling. Colt Cabana is our second inductee. Tickets: https://t.co/NjHlyFS5Ij pic.twitter.com/QSqhZCA4Fg

In a statement, Wrestle MediaCon said:
“One man redefined what it was to be an independent professional wrestler. Through the groundbreaking Art of Wrestling, Colt Cabana showed a generation of wrestlers it was possible to survive and thrive outside of the ‘system’. Through this podcast, we saw into the hearts and minds of professional wrestling and a new genre was spawned…
Without Colt Cabana, the wrestling podcast genre doesn’t exist… with that in mind, for pioneering in podcasting, we announce Colt as the second inductee into our Hall of Fame.”
Cabana was only beaten into the legendary league by Dave Meltzer, who the convention deservingly called “the godfather of wrestling journalism.”
