Following a controversial tweet about Eddie Guerrero, numerous fans, performers and wrestling legends came to the defence of the late star.
In a now-deleted post, a Twitter user called Eddie Guerrero a B+ player, arguing that he’s only as popular as he is because he passed on. Replying to Denise Salcedo’s tweet asking which wrestling hill you’re willing to die on, the user tweeted:
“Eddie Guerrero was a B+ player at best and people only hold him in such high regard because he is dead.”
The tweet prompted a large portion of the wrestling world to defend Guerrero. Mick Foley kept his response short and sweet, tweeting:
“Eddie Guerrero was an A+ player. End of discussion.”
Former NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar took to Twitter with a GIF of Guerrero, writing:
“Eddie Guerrero is the GOAT.”
Declaring that Guerrero was in “God tier”, AEW’s Jack Evans tweeted:
“So just saw something strange trending about Eddie Guerrero being a B+ wrestler. On a wrestling tier list from rank S to F – Eddie is God Tier.”
NXT talent Carmelo Hayes appreciated all the Eddie Guerrero love, tweeting:
“All the Eddie Guerrero love today >>>”
Even the official WWE on Fox Twitter account got involved. Tweeting a GIF of Guerrero, WWE on Fox captioned the clip:
¡Viva la raza!
Following all the support for his uncle, Chavo Guerrero thanked the wrestling world, tweeting:
“Irony….Some “Never Was” talking out of his ass, denouncing Eddie’s greatness, & causing Eddie’s millions of fans to come to his defense. Haha. Thank you Wrestling fans! You Are The Best!!! EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!”
