Report: Original WWE 2K22 DLC Plans Scrapped Due To Recent Releases

According to a new report, the original WWE 2K22 DLC plans were ‘ruined’ by a recent batch of WWE releases.

As per Mike Straw of Sports Gamers Online, the first DLC package was originally going to focus on former NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed. When Reed was released by WWE at the beginning of August, DLC plans were reportedly ‘blown up’.

A ‘minimum of four’ of the stars released on August 6 were reportedly set to be featured in WWE 2K 22 as DLC.

As well as Bronson Reed, the likes of former North American Champion Leon Ruff, ex-NXT Tag Team Champion Bobby Fish, and women’s division stand-out Mercedes Martinez were notably let go by WWE on this date. You can read the full list of August 6 releases here.

The report noted that at least two DLC packages have been scrapped in the last four months. It was revealed that there have been rumors that WWE 2K will move away from traditional DLC and adopt a ‘service’ for roster updates, however this was not confirmed in the report.

WWE 2K22 is set to be released in March 2022, with a gameplay reveal previously announced for January.
