WWE has abandoned the trademark for a phrase previously utilized by the Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) promotion.
On June 4, WWE filed to “express abandonment” of the registration of “The Collective” trademark. The company had applied for this trademark for “Entertainment Services”, in December 2020.
GCW had been using the phrase prior to WWE’s filing last year. “GCW’s The Collective” refers to their multi-promotion annual event which takes place during WrestleMania weekend. GCW filed to trademark The Collective days after WWE’s filing last year.
Shortly after the trademark was filed in 2020, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale reacted to the news, stating that everything would be okay.
