There has been an update on WWE reportedly being set to introduce a potential pair of new championship titles.
It was recently reported that WWE had had ‘discussions’ about bringing in two new championships, namely a Women’s United States and Intercontinental Championship, one for each brand.
It was noted in the report that the titles coming in was not definite, and that it is simply being discussed as an idea for the future.
In an update from Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of his Wrestling Observer Radio show, he noted that the titles are indeed being talked about, also noting that they were ‘coming’.
He said:
“I asked and I was basically told that is what’s being talked about, so there you go. Two new championships coming, one on each brand.”
A WWE main roster women’s midcard championship has long been something that many fans and talent have been pitching for the company to introduce.
The NXT brand recently introduced its Women’s North American Championship, with Kelani Jordan being crowned the inaugural champion.
