Zelina Vega has now addressed recent comments she made about delivering a receipt to former WWE star Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks).
In wrestling, a receipt is when a competitor delivers a move stiffer than usual to another star as payback.
This is a long-running and generally respected practice, with many top names previously discussing receipts they have given and taken over the years.
Speaking on Wrestling With Freddie, Vega recalled a receipt she delivered to Mercedes Mone in the 2022 Royal Rumble when eliminating her.
Noting that Mone had previously delivered her Meteora a little too hard, Vega said:
“There was a point back when Sasha had just come out to save Bianca from Carmella and I. She had hit me with the Meteora and dude, I felt like my orbital bone broke.
“I was like, oh my God. Of course, she was super apologetic and whatever, but then I was like, girl you got a receipt coming. I was so mad. She’s like, okay, cool, whatever.
“Royal Rumble happens and I knew I was gonna eliminate her and I was like, this is my moment. I think I kicked the soul out of her. I kicked her so hard.
“She flew back and she landed on the floor. I see her just shaking her head and I knew she knew that was what I was waiting for.
“Of course, we were fine afterwards and it was funny, but I remember Rhea going, ‘She was waiting for that one.’ Yep, that’s the one.”
Vega appeared to address some reactions to these comments on Twitter, asking the mob to put their pitchforks away:
Lol guys, it was all in good fun. Don’t take everything so seriously.
If you actually hear the interview, you see that I was laughing remembering those times because her and I knew it was just jokes and apart of it all. Pitchforks away and breathe 😂
Vega also liked several comments from Twitter users noting that it’s part of the wrestling business.
Zelina Vega’s most recent TV match was against Asuka on the May 19 edition of SmackDown.
At this weekend’s Night of Champions event, Asuka will challenge for Bianca Belair’s Raw Women’s Title.
The card for WWE Night of Champions 2023 on Saturday, May 27 is as follows:

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship – Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (c) vs. Roman Reigns & Solo Sikoa
