AEW & WWE Viewership Reveals Surprising Age Of Audience WWE/AEW

An analysis of the audiences of AEW and WWE television products has revealed which company attracts the youngest audience.

Addressing the last twelve months of viewership for both AEW and WWE, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics would state:

“In late 2021, AEW Rampage had the youngest audience in all of wrestling TV, a young, spry 47 or so.

“It was younger than even Dynamite, which was even later into the 40s at 48 or 49.

“Over that time, Rampage has climbed and it’s now gotten older.”

He would then look ahead to early 2022, stating:

“Around April of 2022, it got older than Dynamite and since then it has continued to climb pretty consistently to where now it is just below where Raw is: 53 years old.

“Half the people watching Raw, half the people watching Rampage over the age of 53, that’s what that means.”

Exploring the relevancy of the wrestling programs to the audience, Thurston said:

“I think what this chart tells me is the relevancy, certainly among younger viewers, of these programs to where the most relevant show on wrestling TV, where CM Punk debuted on it, was Rampage.

“Dynamite is still pretty relevant to this audience.

“Dynamite is now the youngest show. Let’s Give AEW credit for that. They still have the youngest wrestling show on TV.”

Thurston would then turn his attention to SmackDown and, in particularly, the Sami Zayn storyline, asking?

“What we do see with SmackDown, since October or so, does that line up with the Honorary Uce period?

Co-host Chris Gullo would confirm that it would be before Survivor Series, with Thurston going on to state that the SmackDown audience has become younger, though not by an extreme, adding:

“This aligns with the narrative, if you wanted to argue it, that WWE has gotten cooler, hipper, younger in its audience while Dynamite has gotten older, despite being youngest by a significant margin.

“Dynamite has also gotten older since mid-2022 as well. Rampage has gotten decisively older whilst its viewership is diminishing.”
