WWE dealt Conrad Thompson, the organiser of Starrcast II, with a huge blow by pulling Kurt Angle and The Undertaker, two of the biggest stars booked for the convention.
However, per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company have clearly tried to make amends by allowing the ‘hidden gem’ match between Bret Hart and Tom Magee to be shown at the convention. This comes after Magee was announced for the convention earlier this week.
This match took place in October 1986 between Hart and Magee and is considered to be one of the ‘hidden gems’ of professional wrestling. It is believed that WWE actually managed to lose the match, but it was recently rediscovered.
Apparently, Hart was able to work a great match with the bodybuilder/gymnast who Vince McMahon was unsurprisingly high on as a result of his physique. Vince was so impressed with Magee he thought about making him the next WWE Champion, but higher-ups quickly lost interest in him and gave up on his push.
Meltzer is reporting that WWE has agreed to let Thompson screen the match at Starrcast. And as if that wasn’t enough, Magee and Hart will both be appearing live after the screening to discuss their match.
This is a huge pull for Conrad Thompson and many people will be excited at finally getting to see this ‘lost’ bout.
