An ex-WWE star has revealed that a former WWE Champion wanted to face them and tried to make it happen multiple times.
Speaking at the Golden Rings Collectibles virtual signing, Summer Rae revealed that AJ Lee had petitioned to work with her on a number of occasions.
Revealing that AJ Lee had made the suggestion several times in 2013, Summer Rae said:
“AJ did ask to work me multiple times and they didn’t give it to her.
“AJ was kind of working the same people over and over, and we had one match on “Superstars” or something.
“Because I was so tall, I could base her for a lot of her lucha and high-flying stuff.
“She just really liked working with me, and she didn’t think I had a shot, like I wasn’t given a shot.
“She asked Vince and she asked a lot of people, and they just said ‘No.’”
AJ Lee retired from wrestling in April 2015.
She would return to the wrestling world in October 2021 as an executive producer for WOW Women of Wrestling and would become the color commentator for WOW’s syndicated television in September 2022 programming.
