AJ Styles Addresses WWE Retirement WWE

With reports that AJ Styles is to step away from the ring this year, the WWE star has addressed his retirement.

During last year, AJ Styles noted that he would retire from in-ring competition in 2026, with John Cena indicating that there wouldn’t be a long retirement tour.

With Cena having revealed a conversation he had with Styles where age was a factor in the decision, further details have emerged as to why he has chosen this year to step back.

Speaking on Six Feet Under with The Undertaker, Styles shared further insight on his retirement, saying:

“Here’s the thing about retirement, right, it’s the opportunity to go out your way, not because of injury, but standing on your own two feet.

“The goal of working is to retire, and to be able to do that, to me, is a celebration.

“So, I hope that when it does happen, that you guys will celebrate with me that I achieved that goal.”

Back in October of last year, Styles wrestled his final match in Japan as part of the WWE SuperShow tour of the country, receiving an emotional sendoff.

He would go on to win the WWE World Tag Team Championship with Dragon Lee shortly thereafter, and lose them to The Usos on the December 29 episode of Raw.
