A current WWE star has revealed that they had been offered a contract previously but recalled being ‘too scared’ to sign on the dotted line.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin of the Motor City Machine Guns debuted on the October 18 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Discussing their decision to sign with WWE, Alex Shelley revealed that Triple H was a “huge factor” in their decision.
This wasn’t the first time that Alex Shelley had seen a WWE contract, however, as he revealed during an appearance on SHAK Wrestling.
Shelley would reveal that he had received an offer before the COVID-19 pandemic derailed the business, saying:
“I actually had tabled a WWE contract offer because of the pandemic, right before it.
“I was too scared to sign a wrestling contract because the entertainment industry was just so up and down, I didn’t know what was going on. Nobody in the world did.”
The COVID-19 pandemic brought an end to live fan-attended events, with WWE moving to a no-fans ThunderDome experience.
2020 also saw a number of stars released, with many being due to COVID-19 budget cuts.
Since signing with the company, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been WWE Tag Team Champions.
