Later this month at Crown Jewel, Cain Velasquez will be challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship.
The match in Saudi Arabia will be the former UFC Heavyweight Champion’s first inside a WWE ring, and the third of his wrestling career.
Velasquez has now signed a multi-year deal with the company and will continue to wrestle for WWE after Crown Jewel.
However, the former MMA star has revealed that he has been given permission from Vince McMahon to work a show for another promotion.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Velasquez revealed that WWE has allowed him to work a final match for AAA. Velasquez wrestled the first two matches of his career for the Mexican promotion.
“AAA, I’m still going to compete in one of their shows. That is just awesome that WWE went ahead and gave me the green light to compete in one of their shows at AAA’s choosing.”
Velasquez was supposed to wrestle at an AAA show in Los Angeles earlier several weeks ago but the show was cancelled. It seems like Velasquez contract with AAA was for three matches, meaning he still has one more show to do.
This is quite surprising that WWE has given Velasquez permission to work the AAA show, especially considering the promotion is associated with AEW.
