WWE And The Undertaker RETURN To Madison Square Garden!

WWE And The Undertaker RETURN To Madison Square Garden!

On July 7, WWE returned home to the hallowed grounds of Madison Square Garden for a Raw house show. Live events from the venue are always special because the company no longer stage pay-per-views from the building thanks to cost issues.

Madison Square Garden has always been synonymous with the McMahon run promotion with countless memorable moments emanating from under its famed roof. Instances such as Bret Hart felling Yokozuna for the WWF Championship at WrestleMania X, Pedro Morales becoming the first WWF Triple Crown winner in history by besting Ken Patera for the Intercontinental Championship on the same night John Lennon was murdered less than three miles away, the inaugural WrestleMania, and the beginning of Bruno Sammartino’s epic WWWF Championship reign.

This time, the return to the ‘World’s Most Famous Arena’ heralded the homecoming of The Undertaker for the first time since making short work of John Cena at WrestleMania 34. The ‘Deadman’ teamed with Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman to down Elias, Constable Corbin – I wish they’d stop calling him that – and Kevin Owens in the main event of the show. Needless to say, ‘Taker got the victory by pinning Owens with a Tombstone. One day, Kevin will get a really good push.

It is unknown if we will see The Undertaker again before the mega WWE Super Show-Down in Australia on October 6, though all rumors point to a possible rematch between him and John Cena at SummerSlam. But, you know, one that actually breaks the five-minute mark.

Results from the rest of the show:

  • Bobby Lashley destroyed Jinder Mahal
  • Cedric Alexander pinned Buddy Murphy to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
  • The Deleters of Worlds best Titus Worldwide to retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships
  • Bayley, Ember Moon, and Natalya went over Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, and Alicia Fox
  • Mojo Rawley cracked Bobby Roode
  • Dolph Ziggler overcame Seth Rollins and Finn Balor to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship
  • Lucha House Party beat Drew Gulak, Jack Gallagher, and Brian Kendrick
  • Ronda Rousey mauled Nia Jax – Alexa Bliss served as Special Guest Referee

Following the event, it was announced the company would return to the venue on December 26 for a Smackdown Live event. Announced matches thus far are AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe for the WWE Championship and Daniel Bryan vs The Miz. Of course, all cards are subject to change.
