Top WWE Star Addresses Anniversary Of Previous Release WWE

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has reflected on the 10 year anniversary of his first WWE release, ahead of Clash at the Castle.

Drew McIntyre will receive a huge spotlight at the June 15 premium live event, with the Scottish Warrior set to challenge for Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Championship in his home country.

With McIntyre holding multiple world titles during his latest WWE run, it’s easy to forget when Drew McIntyre performed a lot further down the card.

As many fans know, McIntyre reinvented himself after being released from his WWE contract, ahead of him returning to the company in 2017.

Drew McIntyre has now taken to Twitter to point out that it has been 10 years since his WWE release on June 12, 2014.

Sharing a video from inside an ICW ring, McIntyre pointed out that he wasn’t even named in the headline about those talent cuts, before noting that his release was the best thing to happen to him.

You can watch McIntyre’s video below.

The Scottish Warrior captioned the post:

June 12, 2014: Brodus Clay, Evan Bourne, Teddy Long, Curt Hawkins and other WWE Superstars released.

I didn’t even make the headline.

10 years later I am the headline. #WWECastle

The World Heavyweight Championship bout at Clash at the Castle will technically be a title rematch, with Damian Priest winning the gold from McIntyre at WrestleMania 40 after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract, moments after McIntyre won the title from Seth Rollins.
