During last night’s August 21 SummerSlam pay-per-view, WWE officially announced its return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for later this year.
During the show, a promo aired advertising Crown Jewel 2021 for October. The event will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital. The promo featured male and female competitors, including the likes of Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair and Mansoor.
While no specific date was announced, it has been reported that WWE have now locked in October 21 for the pay-per-view event. In a media call, it was revealed that WWE planned to return to “large scale” international live events before the end of 2021.
A separate report noted that WWE will hold the final match of the planned Queen of the Ring tournament at this Saudi Arabia show.
WWE previously signed a deal with the Saudi General Sports Authority to do two shows per year for 10 years in 2018, but that hasn’t been possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
