With the Coronavirus pandemic causing WrestleMania 36 to be taped over two days at the Performance Center in front of no days, WWE was forced to cancel NXT TakeOver: Tampa.
This was a big blow for many fans, with TakeOver shows often providing some of the best in-ring action and story-driven matches of the entire year.
Fear not, as WWE has confirmed a report from Sports Illustrated that states the matches planned for NXT TakeOver: Tampa will now take place on the coming episodes of NXT TV.
WWE has confirmed that Triple H will appear on tomorrow night’s NXT to announce which makes will be taking place on which date. The string of TakeOver matches will start the Wednesday before WrestleMania.
🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨
As first reported by @SInow:

– The matches originally scheduled for #NXTTakeOver: Tampa Bay will now take place on #NXTonUSA, starting 4/1!https://t.co/prKzBXERuk— WWE NXT (@WWENXT) March 24, 2020
Only one TakeOver had been confirmed prior to the show being cancelled, with Mia Yim, Tegan Nox, Chelsea Green and three other women will compete in a number one contenders ladder match.
The following matches will likely take place on the coming episodes of NXT. While they have not been confirmed, these have all been rumoured:
- Broserweights vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Undisputed Era – NXT Tag Team Championship
- WALTER vs. Finn Balor – NXT UK Championship

This means that over the next few weeks, we are going to be treated to some truly brilliant TakeOver matches on NXT TV. This will be a good way to try and siphon viewers away from AEW.
