A new report has revealed an update on WWE potentially announcing another new championship following the Women’s United States Title.
On the November 8 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, GM Nick Aldis announced the introduction of the WWE Women’s United States Championship.
After the formal announcement, Michael Cole confirmed that both Raw and SmackDown stars will be eligible for the new title.
With the introduction of a secondary women’s title on SmackDown, many fans have questioned whether another mid-card women’s championship would be introduced for Raw as well, following a report that suggested as such earlier this year.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that talent within the company stated there was no discussion of a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship backstage at Raw.
Despite Raw talent being eligible for the Women’s U.S. Title, there were no promos from any stars in regards to the new championship.
It is not confirmed when the inaugural Women’s United States Champion will be crowned at the time of this writing.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on a potential WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship when they become available.
