A WWE name has apologized for recent comments that caused a bit of a stir online earlier today in the sports realm.
While he is a WWE Raw commentator on Monday nights, Pat McAfee also hosts his Pat McAfee Show on ESPN throughout the week.
On today’s edition of his live sports chat show, in commentary about WNBA star Caitlin Clark, McAfee used a phrase to describe her that drew some criticism online.
While he said that there has been much commentary regarding “this rookie class”, he suggested the media cut to the chase and say “one white bitch for the Indiana team who is a superstar”.
When his comments raised some eyebrows on social media, McAfee took to Twitter to clarify and also apologize for any harm as it was not his intention.
McAfee wrote:
I shouldn’t have used “white bitch” as a descriptor of Caitlin Clark. No matter the context.. even if we’re talking about race being a reason for some of the stuff happening.. I have way too much respect for her and women to put that into the universe.
My intentions when saying it were complimentary just like the entire segment but, a lot of folks are saying that it certainly wasn’t at all. That’s 100% on me and for that I apologize… I have sent an apology to Caitlin as well.
Everything else I said… still alllllll facts. #Journalism #WNBAProgrum #SheIsTheOne
Pat McAfee is set to appear as usual on tonight’s edition of WWE Raw on USA Network.
Set for the show, Finn Balor takes on Dragon Lee, Kiana James makes her Raw debut against Natalya, and Rey Mysterio faces WWE World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest in a non-title match.
There’s also Ludwig Kaiser vs Sheamus, New Day vs the Authors of Pain, Ricochet vs Bron Breakker, and an appearance from Liv Morgan one week after she kissed Dominik Mysterio.
