
An update has been revealed regarding the potential WWE return of Asuka, who’s been out of action due to injury.
WWE star Asuka has been out of action due to a knee injury for several months, and the latest news on her status has now come to light.
As reported by Fightful Select, the return of the multi-time women’s champion has been discussed within WWE.
The report notes that there have been creative plans pitched and discussed for Asuka, specifically “a potential tag team match option” that was pitched, but in the end was “shot down.”
Asuka has been away from in-ring competition since May 2024 when she and Kairi Sane lost the Women’s Tag Team Championship to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill at WWE Backlash.
There were no more specific details regarding the timing of when Asuka’s return from injury may take place.
Elsewhere in Royal Rumble 2025 news, it has been reported that WWE is hopeful that AJ Styles can be medically cleared to appear at the event this weekend.
WWE Royal Rumble 2025 is set for Saturday, February 1 from Indianapolis, Indiana.
Thus far, the names confirmed for the women’s Rumble match are Nia Jax, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Bayley, Naomi, Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair.
