Rumor Killer On WWE Star’s Absence

Rumor Killer On WWE Star’s Absence WWE

WWE’s Raw live event on December 30 saw a change of plan after it was revealed that the new main event would be Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley.

Originally, the announced main event for the non-televised show was set to be Seth Rollins vs Austin Theory.

The match would have taken place in a steel cage match for the United States Championship.

Whilst Rollins and the steel cage would both still feature, Theory would not.

Details for his absence were sparse at the time.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported on the absence, explaining:

“Theory on Friday was not in Toronto, but I was told it’s not an injury or anything like that.

“He was supposed to be in the main event with Seth.

“I don’t know if it was an issue going across the border.”

Meltzer did comment on the unusual circumstances under which the announcement was made, saying:

“The building put it out, which is really weird because WWE usually puts it out.

“I was told that Theory is going to be, at least a few hours ago, would be wrestling Seth Rollins, and there’s no problem or no injury or anything like that.

“I don’t know what it was.”

Theory did last compete on WWE’s live event in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, December 28.

Austin Theory was recently reported as the potential opponent of John Cena at WrestleMania 39 in April.

An appearance by John Cena would be reliant on him being free of other TV and movie commitments.
