Wrestling fans have taken to social media to voice their opinion of a WWE championship victory that took place on the February 20 WWE Raw.
On the episode of WWE Raw, WWE United States Champion Austin Theory took on WWE Hall of Famer Edge.
Whilst Theory, in a WWE Digital Exclusive, would rate his performance highly, others were not quite so complimentary with their responses.

Taking to social media, fans criticized the match, which saw interference from Finn Balor attacking Edge, with one fan Tweeting:
“Getting bored of the same old finishes, match after match. oh, look, someone’s come out to interfere, or the person at ringside interfered 🥱”
Another fan also opined on the match, echoing a desire to see more diversity in creativity, saying:
“I’d like to see him win without interference because all his title defenses end up with someone helping him out Lol it’s kinda boring now given the fact that he’s a good wrestler.”
Yet another fan noticed the running theme for Theory, stating:
“Back to back title defenses ended with someone interfering to help theory retain. Wash rinse repeat.”
And, there was also a comment that this was a:
“Predictable repetitive trash ending again.”
There were even questions over the overall booking of the United States Champion, such as:
“Y’all keep booking Austin to look so weak. Why? Has he ever had a clean win?”
One fan, however, did point out:
“One word for you, heel.”
It wasn’t all just negative opinions towards Austin Theory’s latest title defense however, with another fan commenting:
“That’s how heels work. And he’s become one of the biggest heels in the whole company. That’s smart booking.”
A fan saw great things for Theory’s future, despite the criticism that swirled around them, suggesting:
“After seeing Austin Theory’s performance yesterday at #WWEChamber & today at #WWERaw, I must say he will be a huge superstar in the future! 🔥
“He is delivering banger after banger 🔥”
With plenty more comments to explore, suffice to say that the fans are split on the Austin Theory vs Edge match, though he did retain the championship and has, to date, been champion for 87 days.
During his post-match interview, he would also express his desire to welcome John Cena back to WWE Raw on March 6.
