A major WWE show could be coming to Australia if current plans go ahead between the state government and the company.
Dave Meltzer revealed the news in the new Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), writing:
“The state government of Western Australia is negotiating with WWE to run a major stadium show.
“This would be similar to when the city of Melbourne made a deal with WWE twice to run stadium shows, one of which was a PPV show.
“The likely city would be Perth, which recently hosted a UFC show and many of the UFC shows outside the U.S. are basically local governments bringing in UFC for tourism or other reasons.”
WWE ran the first Super Show-Down in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
The show took place in 2018 and featured The Undertaker (accompanied by Kane) versus Triple H (accompanied by Shawn Michaels) in a No Disqualification match.
Super ShowDown would return (without the hyphen) in 2019 and 2020 as Saudi Arabia shows.
