Real Reason Nia Jax Off WWE Raw

Last October, The Dwayne’s real-life cousin Nia Jax disappeared from WWE for a few weeks – not appearing on either house shows or TV.

Various sites quickly began to give their explanations for why Nia was nowhere to be seen, with reasons ranging from she just asked for a holiday, all the way to her being unhappy with the creative direction of her character.

The latter report came from Sports Illustrated – who haven’t had the best track record in recent… forever – which claimed Nia being related to The Rock provided “her with leverage that many others would simply not have in this situation”.

Nia herself has now refuted that report to Pop Culture:

“That was the craziest thing I’ve ever heard! The fact that people would think that Dwayne would ever tell me to not do something for the WWE, a place that’s actually given him his start and the reason he is on top of the world, it’s completely false and hilarious.”

Jax even went so far to say accusing Rock of working against WWE and Vince McMahon is “blasphemous”, and then revealed the real reason why she missed those several weeks of Raw dates last year:

“I had actually had an injury that happened to me personally on a flight—an overhead bag fell directly on top of my head while I was on a plane. I was out of it, I was completely out of it. I’m not kidding you.”

While this is directly from Nia herself, it should be noted that isn’t what she told The Mirror late last year, saying it was just because she “wasn’t in anything storyline-wise.”

With all that in mind, this next report should really be taken with a pinch of salt, as it yet again comes from the patchy-track record of Justin Barrasso’s Sports Illustrated…
