Major Debut At WWE Backlash 2025 WWE

The opening match of tonight’s May 10 WWE Backlash 2025 premium live event in St Louis played host to a big debut.

Kicking off the show was the United States Championship match as Jacob Fatu defended the title in a four-way against Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre and LA Knight.

The match essentially became one-on-one between Fatu and Knight after Priest and McIntyre brawled with each other around the arena, resulting in Priest landing a South of Heaven chokeslam from a high-up platform through tables on the floor, taking both men out of the match.

However, as LA Knight had Fatu set up on the announce table for a big dive from the top rope, Solo Siko appeared and pulled Fatu off the table, saving his Bloodline ally.

As Knight began chasing Sikoa, a new face burst onto the scene as Knight was attacked by the debuting Jeff Cobb.

Cobb is a former NJPW World TV Champion, IWGP Tag Team Champion, NEVER Openweight Champion, ROH World TV Champion, Lucha Underground Champion and PWG World Champion.

The story appears to be that Fatu was not aware Sikoa was bringing Cobb along with him to WWE Backlash, as he seemed confused when he saw what was going on.

He did, however, capitalize on the situation and went on to pin Knight to retain the United States Champion.

Fatu left on his own, walking straight past Sikoa and Cobb, again seemingly not being 100% appreciative of the unsolicited help.

If you were wondering, commentary did refer to Cobb as Jeff Cobb, so it seems like he’ll be keeping that name.

We’ll keep you posted with any further news throughout Backlash.
