The planned match order for tonight’s May 10 WWE Backlash 2025 premium live event in St Louis, Missouri has emerged.
UPDATE: Jackie Redmond announced during WWE’s official Backlash Countdown show that the United States Championship four-way was confirmed to be opening Backlash, indicating a change in plans from the order listed below.
Tonight’s card features five matches – four of them with championship gold on the line – headlined by hometown hero Randy Orton challenging John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Fightful Select has provided details on the match order, noting that as of Friday, plans were for the Orton vs Cena match to main event the show.
Moreover, the Intercontinental Championship match with Dominik Mysterio defending against Penta was planned to be the opening match.
Becky Lynch challenging Lyra Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship was set to be the fourth match, taking place before the main event.
That would leave Gunther vs Pat McAfee and the United States Championship four-way with Jacob Fatu defending against LA Knight, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest going on second and third, although the exact order for those two is unconfirmed as of this writing – UPDATE, according to Cory Hays of PW Nexus, The US Title is set to be second on the rundown, with Gunther vs McAfee third.
That means the full planned order is as follows:
Dominik Mysterio (c) vs. Penta – Intercontinental Championship
Jacob Fatu (c) vs. Damian Priest vs. Drew McIntyre vs. LA Knight – United States Championship
Gunther vs. Pat McAfee
Lyra Valkyria vs. Becky Lynch – Women’s Intercontinental Championship
John Cena (c) vs. Randy Orton – Undisputed WWE Championship
It’s worth noting that this is just what was planned, and the order may end up changing by the time they actually take place.
