Another Major Tease For WWE Faction Split At Backlash 2023

Another Major Tease For WWE Faction Split At Backlash 2023 WWE

Tonight’s WWE premium live event, WWE Backlash live from San Juan, Puerto Rico got started with a thunderous crowd reaction for a surprising star.

With the San Juan crowd firmly in support of IYO SKY, the match was interesting in how the crowd impacted the story.

For this crowd, the longtime WWE Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair was the heel while IYO SKY was the clear favorite.

With stunning near falls throughout, there was finally a “this is awesome!” chant in the final third of the match.

After even a stunning powerbomb from the middle rope, IYO SKY was still able to kick out.

With Damage CTRL coming to the ring, there was a bit of a distraction as Bayley got pulled into the ring but meanwhile when the referee had his back turned, Dakota Kai kicked Belair.

As Bayley had Bianca’s ponytail pinned on the outside of the ring, it looked bleak however when the ref noticed and cast Bayley aside, the minor distraction was enough to end up costing the challenger.

With the ‘Genius of the Sky’ on the top rope going for a moonsault, instead Bianca was able to escape and reverse into a big KOD and the pinfall victory.

Commentary made an obvious point of putting over the idea that SKY likely would have won if it wasn’t for Bayley interfering, so it would appear the build is towards her breaking out as a singles talent.

All three members of Damage CTRL were drafted to SmackDown in the WWE Draft so the story will be continuing.
