Last night’s episode of Raw set up another addition to the Backlash card this Sunday. At the event, it will be Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a tag team match. This will be Bobby Lashley’s first WWE pay-per-view bout since his return.

This match joins a stacked Backlash card with Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns, AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, and Seth Rollins vs. The Mix also being highlighted.
The announcement was made after Lashley, Strowman and Reigns defeated the team of Owen, Zayn and Jinder Mahal. This seems like a last minute decision to make sure all four men are on the card with not much build-up to the match and WWE seemingly relying on the popularity of the stars involved to sell the match.
The popularity of both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn was particularly apparent last night with the Montreal crowd ecstatic to see the Quebec born pair. A win at Backlash would almost certainly position them as number one contenders for the Raw Tag Team Championships.
Here’s hoping that this isn’t going to be a simple squash match to make Lashley and Strowman seem even more invincible than they have already been portrayed, as Owens and Zayn will be looking to regain momentum after losing to Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34.
With this being Lashley’s first pay-per-view match since returning to the WWE, it seems very unlikely that he won’t be a part of the winning team on Sunday.
