An update has emerged on backstage morale within WWE following Vince McMahon’s departure in late July.
Following Vince McMahon’s retirement announcement, Stephanie McMahon & Nick Khan became co-CEOs, and Triple H took over creative.
Per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the locker-room is generally very happy with the current management team.
Arguing that Vince McMahon had been a hindrance to WWE before his departure, Meltzer said:
“I think that we’re starting to learn, it really hit me…was that it really hit that Vince really was a hindrance. People sort of speculated and everything but when you see the difference in the mood over there.
“I think it’s a better product. For the most part, and there are exceptions there too because there’s people who are close to Vince but for the most part, the talent is very happy because a lot of the weird Vince-isms are gone that didn’t need to be there. A lot of the weird stupidity is out the window.”
While SummerSlam was the first premium live event following Vince McMahon’s retirement, WWE is currently in the midst of its first full premium live event cycle under the Triple H regime with Clash At The Castle set for September 3.
The event will be headlined by a Undisputed WWE Universal Title match, with Drew McIntyre to challenge for Roman Reigns’ gold.
