The backstage reaction within WWE to the news that CM Punk is likely heading to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has been revealed.
Ringside News, which has had many of its recent reports confirmed as accurate by the likes of Fightful and Dave Meltzer, is reporting that the general feeling is that WWE doesn’t want Punk back anyway.
Someone ‘pretty high up’ in WWE said: “WWE has no interest in CM Punk and even less for Phil Brooks as a human being”.
Another direct quite was that WWE is happy to “let him be their headache”.
Commenting on reports that WWE may have wanted Punk back after AEW became interested, Ringside News states that’s “not the case at all” and “there have never been any talks about CM Punk coming back”.
Punk’s outspoken nature does rub a lot of people the wrong way, but he got himself to the position where he’s CM Punk, he’s a massive star, so he kind of has the right to be as abrasive as he is.
Punk and Daniel Bryan are both reportedly heading to AEW in what has to be described as a massive boost for the promotion.
